American psychiatrists Ellis and Boyce in a recent article for Scientific American describe how some children, like the dandelion, can survive neglect and abuse but eventually thrive.
Luke Brown, following his recent success with For You I Long the Longest, explores in this new full-length work, The Dandelion Child, how the experiences of our early childhood can shape the adults we become.
Brown creates a richly imagined child’s universe, combining his fluid, physically charged choreography with moving, poetic text, through a series of memorable, striking visual images. The Dandelion Child is both a darkly comic and beautifully eloquent hymn to courage, resilience, hope and survival.
Luke Brown Dance are currently researching our brand new work The Dandelion Child with the support of The Tobacco Factory Bristol, Arts Council England, Bridport Arts Centre, The Point Eastleigh and Corn Exchange Newbury and will be available for touring Spring 2019.
